• Shona Robison MSP

    Cabinet Secretary, Health and Sport

    Shona Robison was born in Redcar in 1966. Educated at Alva Academy, she went on to graduate from Glasgow University with a Social Sciences MA and Jordanhill College with a Postgraduate Certificate in Community Education. Previously she worked for Glasgow City Council’s Social Work Department.

    Ms Robison was MSP for the North East from 1999-2003 and elected MSP for Dundee East in 2003. Latterly she was Shadow Minster for Health and Social Justice and a member of the Parliament’s Health Committee before being appointed Minister for Public Health in the Scottish Government formed after the May 2007 election.

    Ms Robison was re-elected at the May 5, 2011 election and appointed as Minister for Commonwealth Games & Sport.  She became Cabinet Secretary for Health, Wellbeing & Sport in November 2014.

    Ms Robison was re-elected at the May 5, 2016 election and was subsequently appointed as Cabinet Secretary for Health and Sport.

  • Madis Tiik

    Member of the Board, Estonian eHealth Foundation

    Madis Tiik is a Medical Doctor with a diploma in Public Health and PhD in Healthcare Engineering. He is a serial entrepreneur and healthcare visionary. He was the chairman of The Estonian Society of Family doctors from 2001 to 2008. From 2007 till 2011 he was the CEO of Estonian eHealth Foundation and responsible of developing the first countrywide EHR and other eHealth services.

    From 2012 he became a senior adviser in Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra focusing on self-care services and eHealth integrations. From 2014 till 2015 he was part of dr. Eric Topol’s team in Scripps Translational Science Institute. Due to his extensive esperience and groundbraking foresight Madis Tiik is actively counseling many foreign e-health projects and related institutions.

  • Professor George Crooks OBE MBChB FRCP FRCGP

    CEO of the Digital Health Institute

    Professor Crooks has recently been appointed as Chief Executive of the Digital Health Institute. Prior to this he joined NHS 24 in September 2006 as Medical Director.

    George’s role with NHS 24 encompassed supporting the governance, quality and safety of all clinical services; developing new services in partnership with other NHS organisations and leadership and management oversight of the Scottish Centre for Telehealth and Telecare. He is Caldicott Guardian for the organisation as well as leading the development and review of all clinical content used by NHS 24.

    George was a General Practitioner in Aberdeen for 22 years. He subsequently became Director of Primary Care for NHS Grampian, with responsibility for all community-based independent contractor services. George has a particular interest in the field of unscheduled care, including the development of common assessment and triage processes across the NHS and the use of technology to support the delivery of high quality patient care to the population of Scotland.

  • Christopher Wroath

    Digital Director NHS Education for Scotland

    Christopher is a public sector information specialist, having worked across the health, culture and communication sectors. While employed by the Cabinet Office Christopher worked with the newly formed Government Digital Service and their development and application of Cloud and Agile based services. Currently working in the Scottish NHS transforming a complex information landscape into a unified environment putting individual members of the NHS and social care workforce at the centre of wholly redesigned services. This involves defining and delivering the NHS Education for Scotland (NES) vision for a comprehensive digital transformation by implementing dynamic change through agile approaches to technical, cultural and organisational challenges by leading the design and in house build of Turas, the NES digital platform.

  • Rami Okasha

    Executive Director of Strategy and Improvement Care Inspectorate

    Rami was appointed Executive Director of Strategy and Improvement in February 2016.

    He leads the Care Inspectorate's delivery on methodology, intelligence, business planning, corporate reporting, quality improvement, involvement, communications, policy, complaints, registration, and legal services. 

    Rami joined the Care Inspectorate in January 2013 and became the Head of Quality Improvement in 2014. He previously worked in public affairs, policy development, and in educational affairs.
